Responsibility means everyday choices and continuous improvement<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At Ronivaara, sustainability is part of everyday life: how we meet people, care for animals, use buildings and materials, move in nature and develop our services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ronivaara is a working farm and Finnhorse home where horse services and tourism are combined with other professional work. We therefore look at responsibility as a whole in which the wellbeing of people, animals, nature, staff, the local community and a sustainable business are connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our commitment is not a claim that everything is finished. It is a promise to pay attention to the effects of our choices, follow what happens in practice and continue improving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our Sustainable Travel Finland work, we are committed to developing tourism responsibly and communicating openly about both the work already done and the areas we are still developing.

Our commitment is built around five principles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Social responsibility and caring for people<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We meet people with respect and as individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone has the right to be heard, to receive understandable information, to express their own boundaries and to participate in a way that suits them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We aim to provide clear information before a visit so that guests can make informed choices about activities, physical requirements, animal contact and the characteristics of the farm environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social responsibility also includes fair treatment, safe working practices and the wellbeing of the people who work at Ronivaara.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ethical treatment and a good life for animals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Animals are sentient, communicating individuals with their own needs, boundaries and ways of responding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their health, nutrition, movement, rest, social life, individual care and species-typical behaviour are part of their everyday welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking part in an activity is only one part of an animal\u2019s life. A planned programme never comes before the wellbeing of the animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity, duration, group size or workload can be changed when necessary. We observe the animal before, during and after activities and take its behaviour and willingness to participate seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecological responsibility \u2013 nature, buildings and materials<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ronivaara is surrounded by a working rural landscape shaped by forests, fields, pastures, seasons and northern weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We care for these surroundings over the long term. The use of routes, fields, pastures, yards and other areas is considered according to weather, wear and the needs of the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use existing buildings and materials whenever it is sensible and safe to do so. Old buildings are repaired and adapted, furniture and structures are maintained, and usable materials can be given a new purpose instead of automatically being replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We aim to use energy, water and other resources thoughtfully and to reduce unnecessary waste.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Local life, community and responsible business<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ronivaara has its own history, and we want the experiences offered here to grow from the real place rather than from invented tourism imagery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We value local knowledge, rural livelihoods, northern nature and the cultural heritage of the Finnhorse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story we tell guests about Ronivaara, its animals and the Finnhorse is based on the actual history and present-day life of the farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local responsibility also means cooperation, using local expertise and services where possible and maintaining a business that can care properly for its animals, buildings, staff and surroundings in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not aim to maximise group sizes or the number of activities at the expense of horse welfare, safety or the quality of the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quality, safety and continuous learning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Responsible tourism requires planning, professional competence and a willingness to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Activities are planned according to the people taking part, the animals involved, the conditions and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We develop our work through feedback, risk assessment, safety observations, animal welfare observations and the everyday experience of the people working at Ronivaara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plans and practices are updated when circumstances change or when experience shows that something can be done better.<\/p>\n<\/div>
