It brings together Ronivaara’s Finnhorses, a professional local guide and the northern landscape of Ruka-Kuusamo: quiet forests, open rural views and the soft shapes of the hills. The experience feels personal from the beginning, because only your own group joins the ride.

The experience begins with a personal welcome at Ronivaara Farm and a calm meeting with the horses. Suitable Finnhorses are chosen for your group according to the participants’ riding experience. Before heading onto the trail, you receive a safety briefing, help with mounting if needed and initial guidance in the riding arena. During the guidance, you go through the basic aids: how to ask the horse to move forward, how to stop and how to guide the direction calmly and clearly.

Your local guide takes you out from Ronivaara’s farmyard towards the forests, open countryside and hill landscapes of Kuusamo. With only your own group on the ride, the experience has a personal character: time with the horses, the landscape and the people you came with. The route and pace are chosen for the group as a whole according to the riders’ experience, the conditions and the horses’ wellbeing. If riders in the group have different levels of experience, the ride follows the level of the least experienced rider.

The Finnhorse is at the heart of the ride. It is Finland’s native horse breed, known for its versatility, steady character and long shared history with Finnish people. Ronivaara’s Finnhorses are known for their sure step, calm strength and reliable character, making them well suited to a private trail ride where horse, rider and northern nature can meet without hurry.

Your Own Riding Experience at Ronivaara

This experience is for couples, families, friends and small groups who want to ride with Finnhorses without other participants joining the departure.
