Into Forests, Fields and Kuusamo Hill Landscapes

This scenic Finnhorse trail ride gives you more time to experience Ruka-Kuusamo’s forests, fields and hill landscapes from horseback. The pace is calm, the guidance is clear and the experience is built around northern nature, Ronivaara’s Finnhorses and a respectful way of working with horses.

The programme is suitable for guests who already have some experience on horseback. It is also a good choice for experienced riders who are looking for a peaceful nature-focused ride with Finnhorses.

The experience begins at Ronivaara Farm by meeting your horse. Before heading onto the trail, you receive a clear safety briefing, help with mounting if needed and calm initial guidance in the riding arena. The ride then continues from Ronivaara’s farmyard with your professional local guide.

The route may lead through private trails, woodland routes, fields and places where the hill landscape opens around you, depending on the day’s conditions. Forest brings quietness to the ride, fields open the view and the shapes of the hills give the experience its northern character.

This programme gives you more time on horseback. During the experience, you have time to notice the sure step of the Finnhorse, the quietness of the forest, the changing views and the way northern nature feels different from the saddle.

The Finnhorse is at the heart of the experience. It is Finland’s native horse breed: strong, wise, versatile and trusting by nature. Ronivaara’s Finnhorses are well suited to varied routes and northern nature, with their sure step, calm strength and reliable character.

The trail ride is carried out with the horses’ wellbeing first. The route is chosen according to the conditions, the group and what is suitable for the horses, so the experience remains calm and good for both guests and horses.
