Choose a private lesson or a deeper horsemanship experience when you want to focus on your own riding, practical horse skills or communication with a Finnhorse.

The programmes are guided individually and shaped around the experience, goals and interests of the people taking part. Depending on the programme, you may work from the saddle, from the ground or explore more closely how horses communicate through movement, body language, space and timing.

Ronivaara’s Finnhorses are part of the learning. Each horse brings its own character, experience and way of responding to the session.

For one rider who wants personal instruction with a Finnhorse.

A private riding lesson can offer a calm introduction to riding or help a more experienced rider focus on seat, balance, aids, timing and cooperation with the horse.

Groundwork & practical horsemanship

For someone who already has some experience around horses and wants to develop practical skills from the ground.

Explore leading, body language, use of space, timing and the way your own movement influences the horse’s responses.

Private Riding Lesson with a Finnhorse

A private riding lesson gives you time to focus on your own riding with a Finnhorse. Personal instruction is adapted to your experience and goals – from a calm introduction for a first-time rider to more detailed work on seat, balance, aids and communication for an experienced rider.

A deeper exploration of horse-human communication

Journey into the Finnhorse’s World – Body Language, Communication & Interaction is a longer private experience for up to four guests.

Practical groundwork, close observation and individually adapted exercises give you time to explore the finer details of communication between horse and human.

Journey into the Finnhorse’s World – Body Language and Interaction

A private Finnhorse experience centred on communication, body language and real interaction with the horse. Through observation and practical groundwork, you explore how a horse communicates and how your own movement, direction, distance, breathing, focus and timing influence its responses. The programme is shaped around each participant’s experience and interests and the individual Finnhorse taking part – offering meaningful discoveries for both less experienced guests and experienced horse people.

Guidance shaped around you and the horse

Private instruction gives time to work with what is relevant to you.

For one person, that may mean finding balance and confidence in the saddle. For another, it may be noticing a small change in timing, body position or use of space and seeing how the horse responds.

The exercises are chosen according to the programme, your experience and the Finnhorse taking part. In the longer group experience, exercises can also be adapted individually when participants have different levels of horse experience.

The aim is practical learning: something you can notice, try and understand together with the horse.

Learn from the individual Finnhorse

The Finnhorse is Finland’s native horse breed and national horse, known for its versatility and long shared history with Finnish people.

At Ronivaara, you meet the breed through individual horses. Each has its own character, history, relationships and way of responding to people.

Your guide knows the horses well and takes the individual horse into account when choosing exercises and guiding the session. The horse is not simply part of the setting – its responses are part of what you learn from.

Horse welfare is part of good horsemanship

Learning to work with horses also means learning to notice them.

The horse’s behaviour, responses, individual needs and wellbeing guide the session. Exercises and plans can be adapted according to the horse, the participant and the conditions of the day.

Ronivaara’s Finnhorses live with other horses and have opportunities for movement, outdoor life, rest and species-typical behaviour. Their health, workload and individual wellbeing are followed as part of everyday care.
