Booking

How do I book an experience?
You can book through our website, by calling or sending a message to +358 40 5300 603, or by email at info@ruskalaukka.fi. If you are unsure which experience would suit you best, we are happy to help you choose.

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. All experiences are booked in advance so we can plan each visit with the horses, group size, and weather conditions in mind.

How can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Please contact us as soon as possible by phone, message, or email. Our booking and service terms are available at ruskalaukka.fi/varaus-ja-palvelutehdot

Can I book a private experience?
Yes. Private experiences are available for families, couples, groups of friends, and small teams. We also create tailored experiences based on your wishes.

Beginners and families

Are your experiences suitable for beginners?
Yes. You are welcome even without previous riding experience. We move forward calmly, give clear guidance, and choose a suitable horse for each guest.

How do I choose the right experience?
Each programme description includes the required skill level. When you book, we also ask about your experience and wishes so we can recommend the most suitable option.

Can I join if I feel nervous about horses or riding?
Yes. Please let us know in advance, and we will prepare the experience in a calm and suitable way for you.

Can I meet the horses without riding?
Yes. We also offer farm visits and sleigh ride experiences for guests who prefer not to ride.

Are the experiences suitable for children?
Many experiences are also suitable for children. Minimum age depends on the programme, the child’s previous experience, and the type of activity.

Safety and clothing

How do you take care of safety?
Safety is part of everything we do. We consider each guest’s experience level in advance, match horses carefully, and give instructions calmly before the start. As a sign of responsible, safe, and high-quality work, we have the STF label, the SRL Laatutalli classification, and HyväTalli silver level. Guests see this in practice in our calm pace, manageable group sizes, and thoughtful horse-and-guest matching.

Do you provide helmets and other safety equipment?
Yes. We provide riding helmets, and you can also borrow a safety vest and gloves.

What should I wear?
Please wear weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes. In winter, warm layered clothing, gloves, and warm shoes are important.

Do experiences run in bad weather?
Usually yes. Normal rain, frost, or wind do not usually prevent an experience from going ahead when guests are dressed appropriately. If weather affects safety significantly, we will contact you and agree on a suitable solution.

Horses and wellbeing

What kind of horses will I meet?
The horses at our farm are Finnhorses. Our authentic family farm and small original Finnhorse farm in Kuusamo are an important part of the Ronivaara experience.

How does horse wellbeing show in practice?
Horse wellbeing is the foundation of our work. Guests notice it in moderate group sizes, enough recovery time, and the calm rhythm of the day. This is also supported by our STF label, SRL Laatutalli classification, and HyväTalli silver level. In practice, this means the horses have time for their own daily life, and every meeting happens without rush.

Can I pet or photograph the horses?
Yes, as long as it happens according to the guide’s instructions and with the horse’s wellbeing in mind.
