A small group lesson is a great way to focus on the things that are important to you and thereby improve your riding.

Learn to meet, read and guide a Finnhorse from the ground with clear body language, calm presence and respect for the horse.

Learn the language of the horse at Ronivaara farm

At Ronivaara Farm, working with a horse begins by slowing down. Before asking, you learn to listen. Before leading, you learn to notice. This private 1-hour horsemanship lesson with Finnhorses introduces you to the world of horses in a calm, practical and respectful way.

Horsemanship and groundwork mean working with the horse from the ground. During the lesson, you learn how to be present around the horse, use your body language clearly, give space, guide the horse and build cooperation without hurry. The Finnhorse is a gentle and honest teacher for this kind of work: strong, calm and responsive to the way people move, breathe and communicate nearby.

The lesson takes place privately at Ronivaara Farm in Kuusamo. Depending on the weather and conditions, the session is held in the indoor arena or outdoor arena. The private format gives space to adjust the lesson to your experience, interests and the horse you are working with. Your instructor is with you throughout the session, helping you notice how small changes in your posture, timing and energy affect the horse.

Meeting the horse from the ground

This private horse lesson at Ronivaara Farm is suitable for both beginners and more experienced horse people. For first-time guests, groundwork offers a clear and safe way to meet the horse without riding. For guests with previous horse experience, it can deepen feel, timing and communication.

During the lesson, the horse is your partner. Exercises may include leading, stopping, changing direction, giving space, observing the horse calmly and learning how your own body language affects the horse’s responses. The content is shaped around the participant’s level, making the experience personal, educational and respectful towards the horse.

Gentle cooperation with a finnhorse

Ronivaara’s Finnhorses are part of everyday life on the farm. Working with them reflects the same values that guide the whole place: calmness, respect and long-term care. In groundwork, this becomes very concrete. You do not need to rush. You learn to notice when the horse is listening, when it is asking a question and when cooperation begins to form.

This groundwork with horses in Kuusamo gives you a different kind of horse experience. It is quiet, focused and meaningful. Instead of simply doing an activity with a horse, you learn how communication begins between a person and a Finnhorse.
